I want to live in the overwhelming presence of God. To learn to live in the shadow of The Almighty! So, today I choose, and I must choose to be overwhelmed by the truth in His word.
Isaiah 61:10 “I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels.”
There are so many things in this great big global world that have the potential to overwhelm a woman’s heart. All you have to do is turn on the news on any given night and see the things going on in our own backyards that breed fear, anxiety and downright panic! There are things that fight for our attention. Thoughts that creep in and if given free reign have the power to distract and devastate the good God has planned for us, but only if we choose to focus on them.
So, today I choose and I must continually choose to keep my minds attention and my heart’s affection on Jesus Christ, the word of God and prayer. When I do this all my fearful, anxious thoughts and feelings melt away in the presence of The Almighty! I then become overwhelmed not by the joy stealers but by the Joy Giver! The joy of being overwhelmed with His goodness and grace overtake me. The peace in trusting His heart and hand bring a sense of calm confidence; replacing fear with faith. I know He is Sovereign. I am reminded that He is the One who cares for me. He is the Father of the Bride & I have been clothed with His salvation and draped in a robe of righteousness. What an overwhelming way to live!
So how about you? What circumstances have risen up in your life that have the capacity to overwhelm you? I encourage you to choose and you must choose to instead be overwhelmed by the presence of The Almighty. Take your fears, anxieties, doubts and overburdened heart to your Daddy God and be overwhelmed by His Presence!
Thank you for these beautiful words to remind me to surrender and let him overwhelm me with His beautiful love and acceptance of me, His child!
